Closed Shop, Commonside: Sheffield pub to call time for the final time today due to "financial pressures"
A Sheffield pub is due to close its doors for the final time today due to “ongoing financial pressures.”
In September 2023, The Closed Shop, on Commonside, Crookesmoor, was re-opened by its former manager Sophie Bailey, following a brief, three-month closure.
More than two years on, and the pub is now set to close once again later today (Sunday, January 11, 2026).

The closure has been confirmed on social media in a post attributed to Sophie, who previously ran the pub for nearly three years between 2019 and 2022, and team.
It states: “Time at the bar.
“We regret to inform you that we will be closing our doors for the final time this Sunday at 6pm.
“We’ve had a wonderful time over these last few years but due to ongoing financial pressures we have made the decision to cease operations.
“We’d love to see you guys one last time so please drop in over this weekend because we’re going out with a bang. Pop in so we can say goodbye and have one last party!
“Offers running all weekend and remember cash is king
“Be great to see you guys.
“Sophie & Team.”
Sophie was also the landlady at the Walkley Cottage in Walkley, which closed in October 2025.
It was subsequently taken over, and reopened last month (December 2025).
