A group of about 13 people were photographed walking down High Street, outside the Halifax bank branch, at around 1.15pm. Two demonstrators could be seen holding megaphones.

One woman who saw the demonstration said the group were shouting about how “we are being controlled and losing our freedom, and that masks don’t work.”

She took to social media to mock the group, writing: “Tiny little anti-mask protest going through Sheffield city centre - how EMBARRASSING telling people in masks not to lose their freedom even though the mask-wearers are just going about their day, but in a mask, and these nutters are giving up their time to be upset about a mask.

"They also had banners about 5G so clearly very sane people.”

One demonstrator could be seen holding a piece of cardboard which read ‘No 5G’.
