Column: Tricky new coronavirus rules for safety in our everyday lives

The irony being I will go for a meal with my daughter in the pub tonight with none of the above, apart from social distancing hopefully from others in the pub, full no doubt, taking advantage of the Government’s discount offer.

To be perfectly honest I am getting a bit confused with all regulations , which was easy when at home in self isolation, however as a guide I know don’t need to wear mask in the pub but one when going to shops now .

Indeed, going to shops will be a novel experience as, up to recently, members of the family kindly did shopping for me.

Hopefully the queues they have told me about will have subsided now and I will no doubt have to get used to paying by card instead of cash.

With coronavirus rising in some areas it would be quite frightening if more stringent lockdown measures were reinstated.

The consequences for jobs, schools, the local economy and not least more deaths would be the last thing we all want and the loss in morale unthinkable.

Track and trace reminder for pub visits

So, given there is no sign of a vaccine, we can only put our trust in those developing the test, track and trace system and maintain social distancing and hand-washing discipline.

After this meeting in the garden it has put perspective online Virtual Zoom meetings trying to use a keyboard in gloves, talking in masks and combat ting intermittent rain.

However, it’s something frontline workers to their credit do everyday apart, hopefully, the rain, of course.

One of my first tasks will be to visit Mosborough Newsagents , Pharmacy and Health Centre to thank them for months of excellent service during my self-isolation.

Going to the pub tonight will be a whole new experience and hopefully good self distancing and hand hygiene proves reassuring.

I have had good support during the lockdown but I know other colleagues also working from home have had to balance work responsibilities, many with home schooling of children, many without grandparent support.
