According to NHS England figures out today, a child who tested positive for Covid-19 has died at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The death is among 62 fatalities announced today, taking the coronavirus death toll for hospital patients in England to 28,175.

NHS England said Covid-19 death data has been analysed and 25 deaths have been removed from the overall figure as they had been reported twice in error.

Of the deaths announced today, the patients were aged between 13 days and 96 years old.

Three patients, aged between 13 days and 83, had no known underlying health conditions.

A total of 284 hospital patients have died in Sheffield altogether after contracting coronavirus - an increase of two since yesterday.

In Doncaster there have been 213 deaths, which is an increase of one.

There have been 184 deaths in Rotherham and 137 in Barnsley, with no increases since yesterday.
