‘Our Street’, created by local artist Alex Blakey, is one of four art installations created in Sheffield as part of the Reimagine project.

Year 6 Children from Beck took part in art workshops with Alex to create the artwork about their local area and experiences of lockdown. Their work was then incorporated into the final installation.

Vicky Rolley, Project Coordinator for Ignite Imaginations was delighted by the school’s engagement in the project. She said: "The pupils and staff at Beck Primary have been so supportive and enthusiastic about this project, we have really valued their input and creativity and are really excited the children will now get to see their work in the finished piece.

“This whole project has been a real opportunity to take art and creativity to all different communities in Sheffield."

Head of School, Jenny Coats, said, “It has been fantastic for children to be involved in something so creative during this difficult time.

"We have found that arts activities like this have been particularly good at helping children to settle back into school following the lockdown and they have been really excited to explore the final piece.”

The installation has already been displayed outside the Coop in Shiregreen and will be on the school playground for three days for children to explore.
