Community Development Worker and Early Years Coordinator Angela Woodward from SOAR said they are hoping to deliver hampers to 50 families around Chapelgreen area in Chapeltown on April 1.

This initiative, she said, is done following the successful campaign during Christmas last year.

She said: "We are looking for 10 volunteers and people who could kindly donate food or anything no matter how small.

"We are also looking for people to help fill these hampers, which will be delivered around the Chapelgreen area.

"We will make it Covid-safe too, by putting the hampers at the door, knock and walk away," she said.

"The aim of our Easter event is to let isolated individuals and families in the Chapelgreen area, know that they have not been forgotten and we are here to support them.

"Ultimately, we want to provide some light to their day in these difficult times.

"All recipients of both hampers and meals were so positive and grateful of our efforts, so much so we decided to try and do the meals and hampers again this Easter.

"Therefore, we are hoping to provide fifty meals to isolated people on March 17 (Wednesday) and 50 hampers for families who may benefit from this initiative on April.”

Unlike last Christmas, she said the charity is entirely depending on donations from the public.

"We managed to get some funding last Christmas, but this time we have got no funding, so we are relying on donations.

"Morrisons and Coop at the Chapelgreen area have kindly donated to us, so we are trying to get as much food as possible to help these families," she said.

Chapelgreen Community Hub consists of different groups and individuals who already worked in the locality.
