Researchers have estimated how much Sheffield hairdresser Sam Taylor could now make as an influencer

Bookies have revealed how much they believe Sheffield hairdresser Sam Taylor could make as an ‘influencer’ after his stint on Love Island.

Sam, a stylist at Salon 60 in Lodge Moor, was dumped on the programme on Tuesday, after just a couple of days on the show, when celebrity Joey Essex took the girl he had been coupled with, make up expert Samantha Kenny.

Research conducted by gambling firm CSGOLuck has now found how much each Islander could be earning on Instagram, and Sam was among the highest potential earners.

Researchers used an Instagram Influencer Earnings Calculator to analyse contestants' follower counts and engagement rates and determine the average amount each could earn per sponsored Instagram post.

The Instagram follower counts are as of June 4, 2024, one day into the summer series.

A spokesperson from CSGOLuck said: “Sam Taylor has the fourth highest potential earning on Instagram, at £178 per sponsored post. He currently has 19.8K followers and an engagement rate of 2.4 per cent.”

But his following has more than doubled to 43.4K since the series started, so that could now be even more.

And the same research estimated Harriet Blackmore’s earnings per posting, on the basis of 44.8 K follows, was £376

“Appearing on Love Island provides contestants with significant exposure, and this high level of visibility can rapidly increase their social media following,” added the spokesman.

“Introducing islanders to a large and engaged audience can open doors to influencer marketing and brand partnerships.

“Love Island attracts huge companies who seek to capitalise on the contestants' newfound popularity to promote their products.

“Their personalities, stories, and relationships on the show help shape their public image, making them relatable and marketable to specific demographics.”

Since leaving, Sam revealed he had been catching up with his time on the show, writing on Instagram: "Well this is weird @loveisland," alongside a laughing emoji.

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
