A former pub in Sheffield has been put up for sale following its shock closure.

The Drakehouse Mill pub on Drakehouse Way, between Crystal Peaks shopping centre and Drakehouse Retail Park, closed in August.

The well-known pub, which had a large beer garden with a children’s play area, was one of Greene King’s Hungry Horse pubs.

Greene King said ahead of the closure on August 18 that ‘after much thought’ it had opted not to renew its lease.

The pub building has now been put on the market for sale or lease.

The property, which is being marketed by Sixteen Real Estate, is described in the sales brochure as being ‘suitable for a variety of uses’. No price is listed.

The listing describes how the former pub occupies a large 1.094-acre site close to shops including TK Maxx, Boots and Argos, with a bus station and tram stops nearby too.

Ahead of the pub’s closure, bosses at Crystal Peaks, which owns the site, said they were ‘looking into a number of options’ for what they described as a ‘prime spot’.
