The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce to celebrate The Queen Is Dead at Sheffield event
The story behind one of The Smiths’ most celebrated records will be explored during a special event in Sheffield marking its 40th anniversary.

Drummer Mike Joyce and producer Stephen Street will appear at the Foundry on November 12 as part of a UK tour dedicated to the band’s 1986 album The Queen Is Dead.
Joined by a special guest host, the pair will revisit the recording process and examine the album track by track. The conversation will include memories of the studio sessions, behind-the-scenes stories and details of the creative work that shaped the record.
The Queen Is Dead was voted the Greatest Album of All Time by NME and has continued to influence musicians and listeners in the four decades since its release.
The Sheffield event will also include archive video footage, memorabilia, signings and an audience question-and-answer session, giving fans an opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from two of the people involved in making the album.
