Jake Bugg announces Sheffield City Hall Show
Pop star Jake Bugg returns with seventh album Alamo before a Sheffield City Hall show in next year.
The 11-track album is released on November 13 alongside first single ‘Never Can Tell’, with a UK and EU solo tour including Sheffield City Hall on Thursday, February 18.
Produced by longtime friend Jimmy Hogarth and Steve McKewan, Alamo returns Bugg, 32, to his folk-leaning roots across 11 tracks exploring love, loneliness and personal struggle through country arrangements.
Across the record he asks what isolation feels like and where it leads while describing an effort to dismantle the defences and barriers around him.
Songs include the Dylan and Cohen-inspired roadsong ‘Day By Day’, tender opener ‘When The Night’, the title track about a crumbling relationship and ‘Cloud In The Sky’, which addresses ghosts from the past.
Bugg said years of touring and recording made it feel like the right time to look inward after recent struggles, adding: “‘Alamo’ was only going to work if I was going to be honest and be as vulnerable as possible”.
Nearly 15 years after his triple-platinum debut reached Number One in the UK, Alamo’s artwork was again photographed by Kevin Westenberg in Memphis, presenting Bugg older and wiser but still direct and unadorned.
