Graves Health and Sports Centre unveils £820,000 transformation with AI-powered gym and expanded facilities
Graves Health and Sports Centre is undergoing a huge refurbishment worth more than £820,000.

The main gym at the leisure centre will see brand-new state-of-the-art fitness equipment installed across 80 stations, including cardiovascular, pin-loaded resistance, functional training and free weights equipment.
It will also be boosted by a smart fitness system which uses AI technology to design personalised strength training programs which can continuously adjust resistance to match user progress and physiological profiles.

The free weights area of the centre, run by leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Sheffield City Council, will be expanded - more than doubling in size through an extension into one of the studios.
Other additions include a brand-new dedicated spin studio featuring 25 Keiser M3i bikes, three lifting platforms, two Olympic benches, a glute drive machine, belt squat machine and dumbbells ranging up to 50kg.
The existing group cycle studio space will also be repurposed to create a dedicated mind and body studio, for activities such as yoga, pilates and wellbeing-focused classes.
Lorenzo Clark, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “This huge investment represents a major commitment to the health and wellbeing of our local community in Sheffield, so people of all ages and abilities can enjoy getting active and feel inspired to lead healthier lives.

“By modernising key areas and introducing state-of-the-art equipment and technology, we’re creating improved and inclusive environments for our customers. Whether it’s enhanced spaces to train or a wider choice of classes, the refurbishment will ensure the centre continues to meet the evolving needs of local people.”
Sections of the centre will be temporarily closed while works take place. The rest of the facilities will remain open and be unaffected by the temporary gym closures. Members will be able to use any other Everyone Active centre in Sheffield at no additional cost throughout the duration of the works. The refurbishment is due to be completed by mid-November.
Cllr Brian Holmshaw, chair of the communities, parks and leisure committee at the council, said: “This is a really exciting investment in Graves Health and Sports Centre and great news for everyone who uses it.
“The new equipment, expanded training areas and dedicated spaces for activities such as cycling, yoga and pilates will give people even more choice in how they keep active. I’m looking forward to seeing residents enjoying the transformed facilities when the work is complete.”
