The location ties in neatly with what is expected to be a bewitching Autumn day out for fans of Julia Donaldson’s work, where visitors can experience the story of The Gruffalo during their visit – at the UK’s only Gruffalo Discovery Land.

Little adventurers can discover captivating insights and fun facts regarding beloved figures such as Fox, Owl, and Snake within an engaging sensory area that allows kids to:

  • Transform into an official Gruffalo Ranger,
  • Wander alongside friendly goats in the immersive walkthrough, or
  • Enjoy the vibrant play park's slides and swings prior to an unforgettable face-to-face meet with the Gruffalo himself.

The Broom Corn Maze costs £5 per child, and entrance comes with a special Room on the Broom tote bag to collect the sweet treats while each child makes their way through the maze.

In addition to experiencing The Gruffalo Discovery Land and the Room on the Broom Corn Maze, guests can enjoy a complete day out exploring and witnessing the hundreds of species that reside at Twycross Zoo.

Highlights of what is sure to be an enthralling day out include the UK's sole herd of Kordofan giraffes, snow leopards, Sumatran tigers, capybaras, Eastern-black rhinos, and four great ape species: gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo, and orangutans.

Each magical visit has a positive impact too, each ticket purchased directly contributes to the conservation charity's ongoing efforts to protect wildlife and preserve nature.

Twycross Zoo is open daily from October 3 until November 1, 2026.
