9. Disastrous floods return
Recent months have been incredibly eventful, but this was momentous only last November - 50 to 100mm of rain fell in a swathe from the Humber to Sheffield, according to the Met Office, which equated to around the whole-month average rainfall or more in a period of 24 hours.
