South Yorkshire indie stars The Sherlocks celebrate top 4 UK albums chart hit

Everything Must Make Sense! has charted at number four after a closely fought battle with one of America’s biggest country music stars, Morgan Wallen, who takes he top spot, followed by streaming giants Sabrina Carpenter and Ed Sheeran.

Despite being underdogs as an independent band away from the major labels and with no national radio or television support, frontman Kiaran Crook, his brother and drummer Brandon, from Bolton On Dearne, lead guitarist Alex Procter and bassist Trent Jackson pushed their rivals to the limit.
They also saw off competition from other big industry names releasing records this week, including Peter Docherty and Dires Straits.
Today, the band expressed the band’s appreciation to fans in a joint statement, saying:
“The support we’ve seen over these last few months in order to push the record has been absolutely unbelievable. We are just four working class lads who write tunes and who work really hard. So THANK YOU for getting behind us!

“To the best fans in the world, we couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you to every single one of you for believing in our band, we gave it absolutely everything we had. The most important thing to us is seeing you lot connect with the music!”

After reaching number two in the midweek charts on Monday, a final few days of campaigning saw their fifth album become their second top four hit alongside 2023’s People Like You and Me, and their fourth top ten record.
But the work doesn’t stop and this weekend the band’s UK tour continues in London’s Electric ballroom before moving onto Southampton and Buckley.

And yesterday they continued criss-crossing the country when they joined Jake Bugg and Lottery Winners to support good pals Kaiser Chiefs at Home Park in Plymouth.
In what became an original Ryder Cup style chart race between British and American artists, fellow musicians and pals lent their support on social media include Birmingham’s The Clause, the bassist of Liverpool legends The Farm, Carl Hunter, and Doncaster’s The Denaby’s who asked their fans to “Get behind the lads.”
On Wednesday, The Sherlocks highlighted the gravity of their challenge by publishing streaming data for themselves and Morgan Wallen, a country singer who first appeared on the US version of The Voice before appearances on Saturday Night Live and collaborations with superstars like Post Malone.

The 32-year-old Tennessee music star has an incredible 39.6 million monthly listeners and 8.5 million followers across social media compared to The Sherlocks’ mostly homegrown 86,000 listeners and 58,000 followers.
DIY band The Sherlocks now have another top ten album joining debut Live for The Moment, World I Understand and People Like Me and You.
It’s a long way back to the band’s first live gig at The Sandhill Tavern in Great Houghton more than 12 years ago, and then clocking up thousands of miles on the road starting at the country’s smallest venues.
The album is also a success for Manchester-based producer David Radahd-Jones, who first won the band over after recording Radio One single of the week Remember All the Girls from their last album.
