Popular Rivelin Valley water park in Sheffield closes after problems during hottest year
“The park has now closed as usual for the winter and is expected to reopen again for the Bank Holiday weekend in May 2027.”
A popular Sheffield splash park has closed for the year after being dogged by problems during a summer of heatwaves.
Rivelin Valley Water Play reopened for three days over the August bank holiday weekend, Sheffield City Council said.
But it is now closed until May.

The popular site on Rivelin Valley Road shut over the scorching spring bank holiday weekend for “essential works to maintain water quality and site safety.”
At the time, Coun Will Sapwell called for an internal review “so the same mistakes aren't repeated.”
The council’s Parks and Countryside department said they would fix the fault and “then it's yours for the whole summer!”
But it closed on August 10 when a pump failed - just as the city endured another heatwave.
Officials could only apologise and urge people to visit the city’s “abundance of amazing parks, woodlands and green spaces.”
A Sheffield City Council spokesperson said: “The park reopened on Saturday 29 August until and including Monday 31 August.
“The park has now closed as usual for the winter and is expected to reopen again for the Bank Holiday weekend in May 2027.”
