MP tours flooded sites

SHADOW Minister for Floods Anne McIntosh toured deluge-hit areas of Sheffield and discussed ways of preventing a future disaster with city leaders.

The Tory MP, who was accompanied by Dore and Totley Conservative councillor Anne Smith, visited Forgemasters steelworks, Brightside, and Meadowhall shopping centre - both left under feet of water when the River Don Burst its banks.

Ms McIntosh also met Sheffield Council chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake, the authority’s emergency planning and customer service officers, and representatives from development agency Creative Sheffield.
