Christmas comes early as nearly 250 dogs head to Sheffield festive party
Their next event is being held at the Head of Steam
What is better than a Sunday filled with dogs? Dogs in Christmas jumpers, of course...
On Sunday, November 8, up to 250 dogs and their owners are heading to The Head of Steam in Sheffield city centre for the Pup Up Cafe Christmas Tour.
The company was founded by Marcus Ackford in 2018 and has hosted over 20,000 dogs across England, Wales and Scotland over their eight years of events. From Valentines, Halloween and now Christmas, no festivity is missed.

Marcus said: “The Pup Up Cafe essentially began as an experiment in what happens when you pack a room full of sausage dogs and let chaos reign.
“When the very first dachshund event in Exeter saw over 200 pups descend on the venue in early 2019, it was clear we were onto something huge.
“What kicked off as a fun local gathering quickly spiralled into a full-blown UK tour, packing out bars, event spaces, and venues from Cornwall to Glasgow and London.”

Their next event is being held at the Head of Steam on November 8 and the sessions are as follows:
- 10am: Sausage dogs
- 12pm: Spaniels
- 2pm: Pint-sized pooches
- 4pm: King-sized canines
Marcus added: “At its heart, it’s basically an unhinged, tail-wagging party for four-legged regulars and dog lovers who just want a massive hit of dog therapy.
“The setup has evolved to welcome specific sessions for Pugs, Doodles, Goldens/Labs, Spaniels, Terriers and all-breed mixers, complete with ball pits, breed-sized agility obstacles, unlimited puppuccinos on tap, and enough photo ops to blow up any Instagram feed. It’s lighthearted, beautifully chaotic, and easily one of the happiest rooms you could ever walk into.”

Kim Mogg gives her view
I have taken my little pug cross Gizmo to a number of these events with his best dog friend Finn and they love it. We have been to the pug afternoons where they get to run around and play with other pugs. Well Gizmo does. Finn is outraged that the floor doesn’t have any carpet so gives his best puppy eyes to gain all the sympathy from other pug owners, which works.
