One of Sheffield’s biggest musical cult heroes has announced that he will be performing at one of the city’s most legendary venues, not just one night but two – here’s how you can get tickets
Richard Hawley will perform two homecoming concerts at Sheffield City Hall shortly before Christmas, on December 17 and 18.
The upcoming shows are expected to feature songs never before played live alongside a selection of fan favourites.
The announcement says that: “This will be a very different experience from Richard’s hugely successful Coles Corner tour in 2025, which celebrated the album’s 20th anniversary.

Throughout his career, Hawley has collaborated with music icons such as Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, Nancy Sinatra, Elbow and Tom Jones.
He became the guitarist for alternative rock band Longpigs in 1993, playing with them for the rest of the decade as they earned critical praise and a dedicated fanbase at the height of Britpop with albums like ‘The Sun Is Often Out’ and ‘Mobile Home’.
Hawley subsequently performed as a session musician for acts like Pulp while developing his solo career. Over time, he established himself as one of Britain’s finest singer-songwriters, celebrated for crafting soulful, local, city-inspired songs that have touched millions.
He earned additional acclaim for the smash West End musical adapted from his album Standing at the Sky’s Edge. The production received the 2023 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and Hawley, together with collaborator Tom Deering, won the award for Best Original Score.

In the statement regarding Hawley’s newly announced shows, it said that: “Richard’s love of Sheffield runs through everything he does. His hometown has always been central to his writing, so returning to Sheffield City Hall is naturally high on his list of shows to play.”
These newly announced dates are set to coincide with the launch of his forthcoming concert record, ‘Live at Sheffield City Hall 2025’.
