Ask many a northerner and they will happily talk about how much they love where they live. Whether it is the low cost of living, the easy access to the countryside, or the wealth of culture, they will never be short of reasons why they live where they do. Here are some of the major reasons to live in the north.
5. Great cities
The north of England is home to a number of great cities, with celebrated nightlife, bustling business and multicultural communities. 7. Food
There are lots of regional dishes from around the north that have been adopted nationally. In the north your are in the home of the likes of Bakewell Tarts, Lancashire Hotpot and Yorkshire Puddings. 8. Accents
The north is proud of its regional accents. There's a huge variety in every county, but they're often noted for their friendliness and unusual colloquialisms. From the famous Geordie and Scouse accents, to the subtle variations of Yorkshire and Lancashire dialects, there's plenty to hear and they are part of the identity of a place. Photo: JPI
