Sci-fi and fantasy fans found a suitably gothic venue after Storm Boelo shredded an outdoor festival in Sheffield - the town hall.
Out of this World, which can attract up to 20,000 people, was hastily reconfigured as an indoor event due to strong winds.
Stands, stalls and characters were hosted in the Grade I-listed structure, built in Victorian gothic style, and the Winter Garden on Surrey Street.
A fun-fair parked on Fargate was cancelled before it could be erected on Sunday morning, The Star understands.
And dozens of gazebos and awnings earmarked for Pinstone Street never saw the light of day after council chiefs were forced to respond to weather warnings.
Big queues built up outside the town hall. But despite being buffeted by strong winds, families stuck it out for a chance to join their cosplay heroes in another world.
