New dad Tommy, who has a three month old daughter, was rescued along with his nephew from the submerged car, which entered the water upside down.

Police officers, firefighters and ambulance service workers were all involved in the dramatic river rescue mission, with a number of them entering the freezing cold, fast-flowing water in a bid to save the young men.

A police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is under way.

Tommy’s funeral is to be held today at City Road Crematorium, Sheffield, at 1.45pm.
