It’s a month that’s seen some interesting business at Sheffield United in the last dozen or so years – good and bad. So we ranked 11 January signings as Hits and Misses – do you agree? It’s not an exhaustive list so let us know your most memorable January signings in the comments below or on Twitter.
5. Jamie Murphy - HIT
Another hero of that FA Cup semi-final run, Murphy was one of United's standout performers during his time at Bramall Lane before moving to the Premier League with Brighton for a profit. He later played for Rangers before injury disrupted his time at Ibrox Photo: MARTYN HARRISON
6. Dean Hammond - MISS
Hammond's loan at United was EXTENDED in January 2015, the deal including an option for the player to make it permanent. No justification is really needed for this one, other than the fact that United ended up paying him off Photo: Sport Image
7. Oliver Norwood - HIT
A bit of a cheat this one, but his loan move was made permanent in January so we're counting him. Instrumental in United's promotion season and took to the Premier League well in his debut season, at the third time of asking. Some of his passing is a joy to behold Photo: Simon Bellis
8. Richairo Živković - MISS
Signed at the end of the January transfer window earlier this year, Živković's deal had an option to make the move permanent - but it was no surprise that it wasn't taken up. He showed the odd glimpse of his ability during five substitute appearances but not too much else, and subsequently moved to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F on loan from Changchun Yatai.
