Glaves, 18, played plenty of games for the Owls’ U18s over the course of this season, and many had thought that he would be one of the players who could get themselves a professional deal at the end of the campaign.

As previously reported, however, the defender was told that he wouldn’t be offered a deal going into next season, a decision that led to him considering his options elsewhere.

Now, with Glaves not looking to waste time over the offseason, The Star is led to believe that he has started training with Brentford’s B side, and started for them as they drew 0-0 with Eastleigh FC on Monday.

Wednesday are yet to release their retained lists ahead of the 2021/22 season, however plenty of decisions have already been made with regards to the U23s and U18s, while this week there are discussions taking place between Darren Moore and the senior team.

With Glaves, it remains to be seen what will come of his trial spell at Brentford, but he’ll be hoping to use his Wednesday exit as a springboard for better things as he looks to land himself a deal to join a promotion-chasing side who have had plenty of progression from their ‘B’ team in recent years.

The Owls’ retained list is expected to be released in the next week or so.
