Moore looked crestfallen on the touchline after managing to get back from illness just in time for the crunch final-day decider against Derby County, but was left with nothing to smile about as a dramatic 3-3 draw aw the Owls relegated to League One.

The former defender was always up against it when he arrived at Hillsborough, and has dealt with a difficult situation both on and off the field, and it’s not been helped by the fact that there’s been uncertainty surrounding his own future.

Wednesday never announced the length of his contract when he took the job, but now the Owls boss has confirmed that he’s got no intentions of leaving even after their drop out of the Championship.

When asked if he would still be around next season, Moore told The Star, “Yeah, that’s what we’re here for… We knew when we came here the job in hand. We knew the task of it. It whetted my appetite, and it’s in me now. The focus and attention is to look forward now. We lick our wounds from this season and we move on.”

Wednesday were within touching distance of survival when Cardiff City equalised against Rotherham United, but a Martyn Waghorn penalty soon made it 3-3 and ultimately sent the Owls packing – bringing to an end a torrid campaign.

The Owls have a lot of soul searching to do over the summer, and many fans will be relieved to hear that Moore will be at the heart of it.
