Palmer was handed a start against the Czechs by Steve Clarke on Monday evening, and even grabbed himself an assist as he set up Lyndon Dykes for the Scots’ equalising goal. The Owls academy graduate – who was played as a right wing back – and his teammates went on to secure a 2-1 victory against a side featuring just two previously capped players after a COVID-19 situation saw their whole squad quarantined.

Now, with the Owls hard at work in preparation for Saturday’s clash with Cardiff City, Palmer will be eager to try and make his first appearance of the season after missing the Carabao Cup win due to his international commitments.

Monk discusses Fizz's Owls debut

It is understood that, while tourists returning from the Czech Republic now require a two-week quarantine period, Palmer and his international teammates have special dispensation that means isolation is not required.

With that in mind, it is thought that 28-year-old is in contention for a spot in Monk’s squad that travels to Wales, and he’ll be hoping to build on his performance at Andrův Stadium if given the chance to start as part of Monk’s first league XI of 2020/21.

Wednesday are thought to have almost a clean bill of health going into Saturday’s clash, with Elias Kachunga likely to feature in what is set to be his SWFC debut at Cardiff City Stadium.
