The Owls and the Sky Blues clash in a rearranged Championship fixture tonight and so what better time to take a look at some of the players who have pulled on the shirts of both sides?
There are a couple of legendary Wednesday names in there. Let’s take a wander down memory lane..
9. CF - Brian Joicey
A 70s hero at Hillsborough who played from 1971-76, Brian Joicey had been snaffled alongside Dave Clements from Coventry by Derek Dooley for £100,000, not a small amount of money back then. He enjoyed great success in front of goal and a fair amount of the Sheffield nightlife! Photo: Getty Images
10. CF - Gary Bannister
Bannister cost Wednesday £100,000 in 1981 when he was bought from Coventry. He was a success, too, scoring 55 times in 118 league matches including 20 in his first two seasons. He moved on to QPR before securing a return to Coventry in 1987. Photo: JPIMedia
11. CF - Marcus Tudgay
A favourite at both clubs, Tudgay remains the only man not called Atdhe Nuhiu to have scored 50 times for the Owls this century. A former Owls player of the year, he played out his league career at Coventry, leaving in 2017. Photo: Harry Trump
12. MANAGER - Ron Atkinson
His first spell at Wednesday may well have ended in acrimonious fashion, but few Owls bosses are remembered quite as highly as 'Big Ron', who returned a Rumbelows Cup win and a promotion in 1991 before returning to save them from promotion in 1997. He managed Coventry in the 1995/96 season. Photo: .
