It will be the Owls first visit to the Bescot Stadium since a Boxing Day 2011 trip that was memorable for all the wrong reasons; injury time goals for Saddlers pair Claude Gnapka and Manny Smith cancelling out Ryan Lowe’s second half opener.
But what became of the players that played that day? Take a look at the run-through below..
5. Reda Johnson
A huge fan favourite at Hillsborough, Johnson was enjoying a fine start to life as a Wednesday player. He played at the club until 2014 when he moved on to Coventry and then to lowly Eastleigh, where he was released in February this year citing disciplinary grievances. Photo: Matthew Lewis
6. Ben Marshall
A tricky winger often linked with a move back to Wednesday since his loan spell, Marshall went on to sign for Leicester City, Blackburn and Wolves before loan moves to Millwall and a short permanent move to Norwich. He hit the headlines last year when, aged just 29, he signed for Lancashire League outfit Stoneclough where he remains. Photo: Dean Mouhtaropoulos
7. David Prutton
Signed from Swindon, Prutton had had his share of injuries but provided a steel and experience to the Wednesday midfield, making 56 appearances across three years. His spell at S6 was interspersed with loan moves to Scunthorpe and Coventry and in 2014 injuries had taken their toll to the extent he called it a day aged just 32. He has gone on to forge himself a glittering career in television and acts as a Championship specialist on Sky Sports. Photo: Ross Kinnaird
8. Jose Semedo
Now if the term 'fan favourite' has been used once or twice already, it should really have been reserved for one man in particular. Semedo became the face of the pre-Carlos era at Wednesday and kept the side ticking over. Over 150 Wednesday appearances under his belt, he moved back to Portugal in 2017 to lead Vitoria Setubal. He remains there today at the age of 35. Photo: Dave Thompson
