We got what we wanted - What Garry Monk said about Sheffield Wednesday draw with Leicester City

In total, 22 players got a run-out for the Owls in a game that will hardly live long in the memory, but it served the purpose of getting a little match sharpness into the legs of the players ahead of next week’s Carabao Cup meeting away to Walsall.
The performance won’t matter a great deal in the grand scheme of things but there were a lot of positives to take from the match with Brendan Rodgers’ side, particularly in the first half where something close to the main starting XI was fielded.

Up front there are big improvements to be made and Monk should be spending the next few weeks attempting to bring at least one recognised goalscorer to Hillsborough but regardless of that, the manager was pleaed by what he saw from his side at Loughborough.
“We said it was going to be a tough test,” he said afterwards. “They came full strength as well which was a really good test for us but I thought we did really well.
"We grew stronger and stronger as the game went on but the main part was to see the things we have been working on and I thought we did that defensively and attacking-wise and there were a lot of positives to take out of it.

"All the players have got minutes, overall that's the most important bit, that match sharpness and I thought the energy we put into it with the minutes the players were on the pitch was exactly what we were looking for and that will do us the world of good to cap off what's been a really good week for us.”
Izzy Brown started – and impressed a great deal - in behind Jordan Rhodes up front, and alongside Adam Reach while another new signing Chey Dunkley is still getting back to full fitness so didn’t make an appearance.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came on in the second half and did well while a host of young players were given the opportunity to show they can step up this season into what is a pretty light squad in terms of numbers.
