New Sheffield Wednesday manager, Tony Pulis, has given some insight into the men that he’s brought to Hillsborough with him.

It was confirmed ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Preston North End that Craig Gardner had come on board as Pulis’ first team coach, with Mike Trusson being appointed as his assistant manager at S6.

Pulis knows the duo very well having worked with them previously in his career, and he says that he’s hoping that they can bring something extra to the team as he seeks to climb up the Championship table in the coming weeks.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Preston, Pulis explained, “I know Gards well… I’ve worked with Gards at West Brom, he’s infectious. He’s a good lad and a good coach.

“He’s had two years of good experience with Birmingham at this level and I always like to bring in a young coach with me wherever I’ve been, I’ve always felt that was worth it.”

Meanwhile, regarding Trusson, he said, “I have known Mike for years, Mike has worked with me since I was at Bournemouth in all different areas. He brings a lot of experience, not just in football but also his recruitment as well.

“Most recently with Celtic, but he’s been involved in other clubs as well so he’s an experienced lad, I respect him, I trust him and he will help with the recruitment in the years to come.”

Next up for Wednesday is a trip to Swansea City this week as they look to try and get back to winning ways.
