It is thought that there will be an investigation into Fisher’s actions after he was caught on video grabbing Paterson’s groin on two occasions early in the second half of Preston’s 1-0 win.

The Star understands that the FA is aware of the incident and are currently looking into it, however Fisher’s boss, Alex Neil, says that they’ve heard nothing at this point in time.

Paterson appeared to look to the referee, David Webb, during the incident, but is unknown whether it was mentioned in his match report or not.

Speaking to the media ahead of Preston’s game against Blackburn Rovers, "We haven't heard anything from anyone at the moment, and because of the sensitive nature of it I can't really comment on it, so that's where we are basically.

"I think that's what happens nowadays because of social media - the sort of trial has been done and we've been found whatever before anything has actually taken place.

"We're not in control of that, there's nothing we can do and it just is what it is… We just need to get on with it."
