The Owls played well for large periods of the game and had they been a little slicker in the final third, had Ike Ugbo been able to get a cleaner contact on his first half chance or had Yan Valery managed to clear the ball that gifted the Clarets their lead, who knows?
But these are the fine margins in elite football and Wednesday will have little time to wonder with another home clash with Swansea City hot on the heels of this one. Here are our player ratings from an outing against Burnley that was both encouraging and frustrating in equal measure.
13. Anthony Musaba- 6
On with half an hour to go. His pace and running threatened but Burnley ultimately shut it all down. | UGC
14. Liam Palmer - N/A
Knock shaken off and brought on in midfield with 20 or so left. Looked solid enough. | UGC
15. Michael Smith - N/A
On with 18 minutes to go to bash some folk about. Mixed it up and showed quality - one pass-and-go with J-Lowe late on was nice and he headed just wide with minutes left. | UGC
16. Jamal Lowe - N/A
On with less than 20 to run and produced some nice touches here and there. | UGC
