'Supercomputer' predicts where Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Barnsley, and Owls's relegation rivals Birmingham, Coventry and Derby County will finish this season

A sophisticated ‘supercomputer’ has predicted where Sheffield Wednesday and their Championship relegation rivals are likely to finish in the table.

FiveThirtyEight’s data model uses key statistics to map out the season.

And, despite the Owls picking up a much-needed three points against play-off chasing South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley last time out, they have still been tipped for the drop.

Darren Moore’s side are currently second from bottom and six points from safety, with nine games left to play.

The supercomputer predicts Sheffield Wednesday will pick up a further 10 points, which will see they relegated in twenty-third with a -22 goal difference and seven-point gap to twenty-second place.

Below is FiveThirtyEight’s predicted final Championship finishes for the current bottom six as well as Barnsley, who are currently in fifth.

Hopefully, its predictions don’t come true.
