So, with it being St Patrick’s Day we thought it was the perfect opportunity to take a look at some of the Irishmen who have starred for the Owls.
9. Glenn Whelan, 2004-2008
Dublin-born midfielder Whelan earned his 90th cap against Switzerland in October 2019 making him the ninth most capped Irish player of all time. Whelan scored 12 goals in more than 140 games for the Owls and is currently turning out for League One side Fleetwood Town. Photo: Laurence Griffiths
10. Danny Wilson, 1990-1993 (manager from 1998 to 2000)
Midfielder Wilson won 24 caps for Northern Ireland, scoring one goal. He was part of Wednesday's promotion and League Cup winning side under Ron Atkinson in 1991. Wilson, who returned to the club as manager for two years from 1998 to 2000, made 98 appearances for the Owls. Photo: Steve Ellis
11. Jim Magilton, 1997-1999
Magilton clocked up 55 appearances for his native Northern Ireland, but the Belfast-born midfielder made only 27 at S6 after joining from Southampton. He left for Ipswich Town after two years at Hillsborough, making 262 appearances in seven years for the Suffolk club. Photo: Steve Ellis
12. Clinton Morrison, 2010-2012
