Danny Röhl wasn’t kidding when he suggested the Owls would get folk out of their seats this season. A 4-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Sunday was enthralling partly for its dominant nature; within 10 minutes of their cup clash at Hull City a few days later we saw chaos. And everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Charlie McNeill was the hero, scoring twice in quick succession at the start of a frantic game. As debuts go, there won’t be many better in terms of his finishing and he was one of several to provide an eye-catching display.
Football at Sheffield Wednesday appears to be a big bit of fun. Watching it certainly is. Here are our player ratings from the MKM Stadium as the Owls slipped themselves into the second round.

5. Marvin Johnson - 8
Had plenty of the ball, particularly in the first half, and put in some excellent crosses rom the left. Played very much like a senior man. Other clubs are interested and if the Owls are weighing up letting him go, this will have been food for thought. | UGC / Steve Ellis

6. Liam Palmer - 7
A solid, mature performance from the skipper for the night; versatile and assured. Got turned in midfield once or twice but recovered - used the ball sensibly, made tackles and once again his versatility was utilised later on. He got a good kick at one stage. Nails. | UGC / Steve Ellis

7. Sean Fusire - 8
Operated in midfield, a fairly new venture. He's been highly rated at S6 for a long time. Put himself about and used the ball with maturity. His first start came as a flying wing-back, his second as an intelligent, combative number six. Made more tackles than anyone else on the pitch. Encouraging stuff. | SWFC / UGC

8. Olaf Kobacki - 7
A little reserved in the early exchanges, the young, snake-hipped Pole grew into the game and provided cause for excitement, darting about and causing problems. He was denied a debut goal by a good save in the first half. What was especially encouraging was his defensive output - he made five tackles. | SWFC / UGC
