Famewo was an exciting signing for the Owls when he came on board over the summer, with the left-footer seen as the perfect player to occupy the left centre back spot in Darren Moore’s 3-5-2.

But he was dealt an early blow after he had to come off early into his debut – the victory over MK Dons back at the start of August – and faced a lengthy spell out as he underwent his rehabilitation.

Now, while his return to action is probably still a little while away, it has been confirmed that he’s booted up once again and back out on the grass at Middlewood Road, suggesting that the 23-year-old is nearing a return to contention for the Wednesday boss.

Meanwhile, Reece James was also shown to be back training after his injury against Plymouth Argyle at the start of this month, and Moore said over the weekend that he would be ‘touch and go’ for the visit of Morecambe in the FA Cup on Friday evening.

A return for both Famewo and James will come as a big boost for the club after their defensive blows of late, and they’re certainly a lot closer to a clean bill of health now than they were for most of the 2021/22 campaign.

Dennis Adeniran is still a few weeks away from getting back out on the grass and Ben Heneghan is only expected back mid-way through next year now, but with Jack Hunt back in contention again and Michael Ihiekwe’s suspension over, Moore has options again.
