Wolves admission made amid Sheffield Wednesday stadium decision
Sheffield Wednesday welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Hillsborough this evening.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Wolves this evening could see both sides rotate their squad a touch, with away boss Cesar Peixoto speaking pragmatically on the line-up he is likely to put out at Hillsborough.
The Championship side will arrive to a stadium with all four stands open for the clash, a departure on the early-stage methods seen in cup competitions in recent years. Ticket prices for the clash were cut to £18.50 across the three home stands. Walk-up tickets will be available.
Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen spoke over the weekend to suggest there would be inevitable squad rotation, with some of the Owls’ returning players expected to receive minutes. New face Kieran Morrison - who was reportedly a target for Wolves - is also in-line for a greater showing after his substitute cameo against Bradford City last week. The fixture switch that saw that clash pulled forward two days may well give the Danish coach wider options given their added recovery time.
The Midlands side are coming off a 3-1 win at Preston North End over the weekend and with promotion back to the Premier League a clear priority, Peixoto hinted that his squad could well be rotated in South Yorkshire.
“We're going to try to fight to win all the games,” Peixoto told media at Deepdale. “We have to see what we're going to do because it's a short time between games and after we have a game in the Championship, which is our big goal.
“Now we have to rest, give congratulations to the players, recover because after two days we have a game again. But we're going to put a team to fight to win the game for sure.”
