Sheffield Wednesday vs Harrogate Town LIVE: 10 changes for Papa John’ Trophy tie

Key Events

  • David Agbontohoma makes Owls debut
  • Ciaran Brennan and Liam Waldock also start

Good defending from Brown

The stand-in centre-back gets in the way of Diamond’s strike after the attacker once again went on the charge at Wednesday’s defence.

Another save from Wildsmith

The lively Jack Diamond cuts inside and hits one low from inside the area which Wildsmith beats away to safety.

Back out for the second half

No changes for either team.

HT 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls will surely be happy with that scoreline, especially with so many changes and with Wildsmith being called into action on numerous occasions.

Brennan has been the pick of the young players involved so far. Waldock has also shown he’s got an eye for a pass.

Will have been a decent first 45 if it stays this way.

Harrogate turning up the heat

Harrogate are starting to press Wednesday high up in their own half whenever the Owls try and play out from the back. That pressure nearly pays off as it leads to them stealing possession and working a chance, which is saved by Wildsmith.

Wednesday’s number two has caught the eye between the sticks in this half.

A bit of rough and tumble

Brown shoves Harrogate skipper Josh Falkingham after getting a knee to the head while he was on the ground. Referee Trevor Kettle quickly intervenes and no cards are shown.

Waldock plays Sylla Sow through on goal, but the Dutchman’s first touch is too heavy and allows Mark Oxley in the Harrogate goal to close the ball down.

Brennan catching the eye

Ciaran Brennan has looked comfortable this half playing on the right of a three-man defence. Calm under pressure and confident to get on the ball and make runs forward. Pick of the youngsters so far.

Harrogate penalty appeal turned down

Liam Waldock appears to trip a Harrogate player in the area but despite some half-hearted appeals, the referee waves for play to continue.

Bit of a let-off.
