Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: £5m ace could join divisional rivals, Norwich man linked with shock exit

Sheffield Wednesday's battle to beat the drop continues this weekend, when they take on Bristol City at Hillsborough tomorrow lunchtime.

After Coventry City beat Rotherham United last night, the Owls are now eight points from safety, and have some serious work to do if they're to chase down and leapfrog Derby County with just five matches of the 2020/21 campaign left to go.

The Owls face the Rams on the final day of the season, and, should Wednesday make up ground on Wayne Rooney's side, the game could be a straight shoot-out to remain in the division.

Speaking to the Star earlier in the week, Wednesday boss Darren Moore - who is currently on a leave of absence from the club after contracting pneumonia after having Covid-19 - revealed why Joe Wildsmith came in to replace Keiren Westwood between the sticks against Swansea City.

He said: “What Westy has done is recover from the injury, so I just thought to myself about getting him back in there because he’s got that experience. I just thought it was right in terms of this game – so we brought him back in.

“Joe has done superb, we feel we’ve got two goalkeepers competing there, and we just chose to go with Westy for this one.”

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield Wednesday and the rest of the Championship, as the build-up to the weekend's action continues:
