It’s been a long time since the Owls overcame the Potters – 12 years to the week in fact – and Garry Monk’s team will be desperate to turn that record around and stay in touch with the division’s top spots.
But who was in the team as Wednesday ran out 4-2 winners at the Britannia back in October 2007? Let’s take a look at what they went on to achieve.
9. LM - Burton O'Brien
Three years at Wednesday came to an end for O'Brien in 2008 and he headed back north, to Falkirk, Livingston, Alloa and then Cowdenbeath, where he retired. Now owns a coaching firm and is u18s coach at St Mirren. Photo: Jamie McDonald
10. CF - Francis Jeffers
Leaving an unsuccessful spell at Wednesday in 2010, he enjoyed experiences in Australia with Newcastle Jets and Floriana in Maltabefore retiring at Accrington Stanley. Now on the coaching staff at Everton. Photo: Stu Forster
11. CF - Marcus Tudgay
Enjoyed the best spell of his career with Wednesday, scoring 49 times in 195 games. Went on to play for Barnsley, Charlton and Coventry before dropping into non-league. Now plays for South Normanton Athletic. Photo: Clive Mason
12. SUB - Deon Burton
Replaced Jeffers after 34 minutes. Left the Owls in 2009 and played for eight clubs, including Azerbaijani club Gabala. Retired in 2016 after a season with Worcester City. Photo: Getty Images
