Wednesday announced a substantial drop in ticket prices for the 2021/22 campaign following relegation into League One with prices falling by around 20% in general as the club prepare for the return of supporters.

While the reaction to the announcement was predominantly positive, there have been some concerns given that no cash refunds have been offered by the club, only ticket credit at this stage.

The SWST hope that the club will rectify this going forward, revealing that one member has gotten their refund for 2020/21 by going down the legal route.

A statement from the Trust read, “First and foremost the Trust continues to encourage fans who can afford to leave their money in SWFC to do so in the form of a credit for a 2021/22 season ticket.

“This is because we appreciate that the club has experienced huge financial challenges related to the pandemic. Equally, we have urged the club to understand that some fans have also experienced financially tough times and changing circumstances as a result of the Covid-19 crisis, and it’s those fans who need and deserve support.

“We have had some genuine and heartfelt emails from members with elderly parents who fund season tickets from their pensions and have become too frail to attend matches in the last year. We’ve had families with young children contact us because they have been denied a refund despite recent redundancy.

“We have formally asked the club to draft and implement a policy to support people in such situations on a number of occasions, but unfortunately this hasn’t happened

“Meanwhile we’ve been contacted by a Trust member who has successfully made a legal claim for a refund on 20/21 ticket money and would like to share his experiences in the form of a blog, in case it helps others.

“Because we don’t want to encourage a mass withdrawal of money from the club we are writing out to all our members to ask them to contact us directly if circumstances dictate they need a refund, and we will share the blog written about this legal claim.”
