The Owls and the rest of the English Football League released their calendar for the season ahead today, with League One getting kicking off on August 7th, with a full round of 3pm kickoffs scheduled as the division gets underway.

Wednesday’s first game will see them travel to the big smoke of London to take on Charlton Athletic in what is expected to be their first game with fans since facing Norwich City at Carrow Road last season, but it will be August 14th – if all goes to plan – when S6 sees the return of Wednesdayites into the ground…

Darren Moore’s first game Hillsborough with fans in attendance will, as chance may have it, be against his former club, Doncaster Rovers, and he’ll be desperate to get off to a winning start at home as he looks to make S6 a bit of a fortress once again.

After Charlton and Doncaster, Wednesday will have their first evening game of the season on August 17th as they host Fleetwood Town, followed by trips to Rotherham United on August 21st and then newly-promoted Morecambe a week later.

Their sixth game of the season is a clash of former heavyweights as they play host to Sunderland on September 4th, a game that could give an impression of whether either of the two ex-Premier League clubs have got the credentials to form a promotion push in the campaign ahead.
