Lane, 16, has been in the Owls Academy for some time since moving over from his home nation, and there’s now talk of him potentially earning himself a spot at the Australian 2021 U17 World Cup.
The teenager, who hails from New South Wales, had conversations with Joeys’ head coach, Trevor Morgan, on a recent trip to the UK, and the Aussies have been urged to make sure they don’t lose out on him to England.

He said, “I’ve seen Massimo around the training ground but we haven’t spoken yet. I think he saw me talking to Trevor Morgan when he was here and he probably put two and two together.
“This is a great club to be at. I’m doing all I can to progress, make my first-team debut and hopefully end up at the top.”
Former SWFC midfielder, Adem Poric, who brought Lane to Hillsborough from his Total Football Academy, added, “I think Australia should call him up and give him a shot now (at youth level).

“If they don’t there’s the risk of losing him to England. He’s already trained with Wednesday at England’s St George’s Park and I know they’re watching him."
Lane has already played above his age group, and will be looking to progress further in 2020/21.
