Sheffield Wednesday squad news for Wycombe Wanderers as injuries mount-up
Latest Owls injury news...
The injuries are mounting up for Sheffield Wednesday ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Wycombe Wanderers.
The Owls put seven past Bromley on Saturday, leading 3-0 at half-time, before adding another four after the break. Louie Barry and Jamal Lowe both scored twice, while Callum Slattery, Mason Burstow and Gabriel Otegbayo were also on the scoresheet.
Next up is a visit to Wycombe, who were thrashed 5-1 at Stockport County at the weekend. The Chairboys, managed by former Barnsley boss Michael Duff, are currently in the relegation zone, without a league win this season.
As for Wednesday, they have got a few question marks about the fitness of some of their players for the clash at Adams Park. Such is the quickness in turnaround from Saturday’s match, one or two are in a race against time to be in contention.
Harry Gray (concussion), Jordi Liongola (hamstring), Sil Swinkels (hamstring), Max Lowe (hamstring), Tyler Onyango (knee), Di’Shon Bernard (knee) and George Brown (hamstring) are definitely out, while Ricardo Santos (ankle) and Barry Bannan (ankle) had to come off against Bromley and could be doubts. Kieran Morrison was expected to start against Bromley but came off the bench for the last 20 minutes. It was decided that was the best option for him after getting through lots of running against Wolves.
If Santos does not recover in time for Tuesday it could mean Otegbayo is recalled to the starting line-up. Ernie Weaver continues to work his way back from a long-term injury and was not in the squad against Bromley.
The Owls are light in numbers in central midfield so they will be hoping to continue with the Bannan-Mitchell partnership at Wycombe, although the likely re-signing of Jaden Heskey on loan from Manchester City will bolster the ranks.
Transfer window shuts at 11pm on Tuesday. However, clubs can still sign free agents beyond that deadline.
