The Sheffield Wednesday pair are speaking ahead of the visit of Bolton Wanderers to Hillsborough this weekend.

Wednesday are hoping to get their stuttering season back on track – a win could take them to within a point of the playoffs.

Sheffield Wednesday press day LIVE - Joe Wildsmith and Darren Moore speak ahead of Bolton Wanderers clash

He was a massive part of the club, from the Dave Jones and Alan Irvine days. I’ve known him since breaking through and he’s a really nice lad, quiet but involved in things.

It’ll be good to see him and it’s great to see him back playing.

JW on Wednesday’s form

We hit the ground running and had great performances in those games, we were right up there.

But there’s been a big turnaround and a lot of new faces. In this sort of week with another game, the Mansfield game, we have the chance to kick on and get some good work done in the week.

The gaffer has lots of ideas he wants to get across to us. It’s about lads settling, getting to know each other and getting that connection.

We have players of a high quality for this league. If that happens we’ll be right up there.

It’s not for me to come on here and say what I think. It’s upto the gaffer to see what happens.

All I can do it control training, my attitude towards the team and Bailey and be supportive around the place. If I get an opportunity that’s when I can do something about it.

Bailey and I get on fine, we have chats in and outside of football. We want that position but there’s a camaraderie in the group that is good.

I want him to go out and do well for the team and I’m sure he has the same thoughts. You have to back the guy who is playing.

JW on being number two

It’s not nice when you’re not playing, we all want to play and I’m no different.

We had a conversation in the summer with the gaffer and he explained Bailey was coming in. He was very open that it was a battle to push one another and healthy competition is great in every position.

It was good to get a game Tuesday and hopefully we can get back on track tomorrow.

Joe is here! First up Mansfield..

That was one of the worst conditions I’ve played in. A complete contrast.

First half was nice, not even a shot on target and the second half was tough going but it was the result we needed and it got us through to the next stage of the competition.

It helps having a game in midweek. I played Newcastle u21s game in the cup and the Sunderland game was called off. Those games for me I can get myself ready for this league game and take an opportunity as best as I can.

Some word from the other camp..

The games don’t stop coming for Sheffield Wednesday..

..and Darren Moore will be keen to get his side back to winning ways right away after a frustrating late defeat at home to Oxford United last weekend.

The Owls are on a run of one win in six league matches and face a Bolton Wanderers side in decent form, three points ahead of them having played a game more.

We’ll be speaking to Joe Wildsmith - who is set to stand in for Bailey Peacock-Farrell - from around 1.15pm, with Darren following from 2pm.

You can follow all each man has to say on Bolton and a whole lot else right here on The Star’s live blog.
