Sheffield Wednesday open their EFL Trophy account against Salford City tonight.
The Owls travel to the League Two side for the first of three group games, with the other two against Sunderland under-21s and Accrington Stanley.
It will be the first time Wednesday and Salford have faced each other in any competition.
The cup clash will give manager Henrik Pedersen a chance to have a look at some players who have not been involved recently and use it as an opportunity to get others up to speed as they return from injury. However, competition rules means that teams must meet certain criteria regarding their selections otherwise they could be fined.
Let’s take a look at how they could line-up...
5. Reece James - LB
With Max Lowe still out, Wednesday are not flush with left-back options, so James may be needed again. | STEVE ELLIS 62. THE WILLOWS.OXSPRING.SHEFFIELD.SOUTH YORKS.S36 8ZZ. [email protected]. 07539-741975

6. Jaden Heskey - CM

7. Jarvis Thornton - CM
Has fallen down the ranks in recent weeks so he needs a game. Like others, his inclusion would depend on if Wednesday follow the rules or take a fine. | STEVE ELLIS 62. THE WILLOWS.OXSPRING.SHEFFIELD.SOUTH YORKS.S36 8ZZ. [email protected]. 07539-741975

8. Davis Keillor-Dunn - RW
Came off with cramp on Saturday, according to Pedersen. Not a natural winger but might have to do a job for the team again. | Steve Ellis
