Wrexham arrived with a stacked squad, a flashy bench and a play-off campaign to build. They were limited to few chances, they were frustrated for much of the piece, but they won. For those of an Owls persuasion, it’s all painfully familiar and it’s all painfully inevitable.
Shifts were put in, patterns of play were put together. It’s a credit to Wednesday that in a side that now hasn’t scored in eight matches, a Bannan-less side perhaps looked slightly more threatening in half-moments. But these are optimistic angles for a tired, battered and decimated football side.
Have some ratings from a grumpy Hillsborough.

1. Murphy Cooper - 6
Good save just after the opener kept Wednesday in it. Didn't have masses of other saves to make despite Wrexham's domination - distribution was sound. | UGC

2. Yan Valery - 6
Took a couple of bruises but battled on and was effective, getting forward to good effect. Stepped in defensively and made tackles but like others, looked to tire. | UGC

3. Liam Palmer - 6
Strapped on the armband for the first time as full-time skipper and looked a man refreshed, racing forward on occasion first half and producing a vital tackle after the half hour. Versatility important again as he switched flanks. | UGC

4. Gabriel Otegbayo - 7
Looks a completely different player to the one he did a few weeks ago. Faced up to the threat of Smith and made some important interventions. Looks more confident and seems to be carrying himself a couple of inches taller. | UGC
