Wrexham arrived with a stacked squad, a flashy bench and a play-off campaign to build. They were limited to few chances, they were frustrated for much of the piece, but they won. For those of an Owls persuasion, it’s all painfully familiar and it’s all painfully inevitable.
Shifts were put in, patterns of play were put together. It’s a credit to Wednesday that in a side that now hasn’t scored in eight matches, a Bannan-less side perhaps looked slightly more threatening in half-moments. But these are optimistic angles for a tired, battered and decimated football side.
Have some ratings from a grumpy Hillsborough.

5. Liam Cooper - 6
Important block after the half hour. Stretched for the cross for the opener but couldn't get there - a few years ago he may have done. Won headers, cleared lines. A proper, grown-up Championship defender. | UGC

6. Reece Johnson - 5
A couple of stuttering moments early doors, but seemed to settled down after a rampant close-down after 15 minutes or so. Caught in no man's land for the Wrexham opener, stamped in to prevent Windass going any further. Some good moments but needs help. | UGC

7. Jaden Heskey - 6
Important early clearance. Has presence and used the ball nicely. Looks a very tidy player. | UGC

8. Svante Ingelsson - 6
Took a knock and hobbled around like a champ, throwing himself into duels. A gnarling, snarling footballer. | UGC
