Sheffield Wednesday's League one rivals 'hold talks' to sign exciting attacker as striker targeted

All the very latest transfer rumours from League One ahead of the summer transfer window opening on June 15.

The start of the summer transfer window is now officially just one week away, meaning Sheffield Wednesday’s supporters are eager to see how their rebuild will unfold.

Following relegation from the Championship in 2025/26, a major rebuild is required in S6 as a new era under Arise Capital Partners prepares to get underway. The Owls’ first-team squad was butchered last summer, meaning it is not unrealistic to suggest they could need north of 15 new players this summer.

Wednesday’s plans for the summer became a little bit clearer on Monday after their pre-season details were revealed, confirming they will spend time in both Hungary and Austria in the coming weeks. But with the start of the transfer window now just a week away, all eyes will be on the Owls to see who could be heading on that mini European adventure.

Elsewhere in League One other clubs are in the process of putting the finishing touches to their pre-window plans. With that said, here are some of the latest headline’s concerning Wednesday’s League One counterparts...

Oxford ‘hold talks’ with Colchester starlet

Oxford United are ‘leading the race’ to sign Colchester United attacker Kyreece Lisbie, according to the Bicester Advertiser. The 22-year-old, who is the son of former Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient striker Kevin, is said to have ‘held talks’ with Oxford about a move to the Kassam Stadium.

The U’s were relegated from the Championship alongside Wednesday this season and will be hoping to try and secure an immediate return to the second tier. Lisbie enjoyed a productive campaign for Colchester this term, scoring 11 goals and registering eight assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Primarily a right-winger, Lisbie can also play as a centre-forward, meaning he has a versatile profile. He joined Colchester in February in 2025 on a two-and-a-half-year contract, meaning he is under contract at the Essex-based outfit until the summer of 2027.

Fellow League One sides Peterborough United and Reading have been credited with interest in his signature.

Robins ‘plot’ move for League One marksman

According to a report by Football Lowdown, Bristol City are ‘plotting’ a move for Huddersfield Town striker Joe Taylor - but only if the price is right. It was reported by journalist Alan Nixon on Sunday that Huddersfield are ‘willing to sanction’ an exit for the former Luton Town man this summer.

Taylor impressed on loan at Wigan Athletic in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 11 goals in just 21 League One appearances, meaning interest is expected to be rife in him this summer. However, Huddersfield are said to want to recoup the £3million they paid for him in January 2025.

It is reported that Taylor is ‘one of the first names’ on new Bristol City boss Michael Skubala’s transfer wish list. Skubala was installed as Roy Hodgson’s successor at Ashton Gate just over a week ago after agreeing a switch from Lincoln City.

Taylor, 23, has previously made 22 appearances in the Championship for Luton and Peterborough combined, failing to score a single goal. He has nine goals in 42 games for Huddersfield.
