Zain Silcott-Duberry reveals his main strengths as he shares Sheffield Wednesday ambition
Zain Silcott-Duberry has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a short-term deal until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
New recruit Zain Silcott-Duberry has addressed what he hopes to be able to bring to Sheffield Wednesday after revealing manager Henrik Pedersen is backing him to “make a good impact”.
Following two stints on trial at Hillsborough in recent weeks, the Owls formally announced the arrival of the 20-year-old on Thursday, confirming he has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Silcott-Duberry, who first made a name for himself in Chelsea’s academy, was most recently with Olympiakos. He joined the Greek club as recently as last September after a stint at Bournemouth.
The attacker, who predominantly plays on the right flank, will now be hoping to put down some roots in England and try and make a name for himself at Hillsborough, perhaps with a view to earning a longer contract in S6.
Although Wednesday have already been relegated to League One, supporters are desperate for them not to say farewell to the Championship without giving them something to shout about. A run of 11 defeats in a row and just two goals in the last 12 in the league means Wednesday are crying out for an injection of entertainment, and Silcott-Duberry is a player who could provide it.

“I would probably say I am very creative,” Silcott Duberry told Wednesday’s YouTube channel. “I like to get forward, I want to dribble past players, be creative as possible, link up play, score goals, get assists and just anything to get the fans off their seats, really.
“I will bring hard work. I also want to learn as well, and learning in football is the most important thing.
“You can’t obviously do things on your own; you need the whole team. You have got to obviously pick certain things you want to listen to, but I think advice and criticism is good for you because it helps you learn and helps you look at yourself in the mirror and makes you think, ‘What do I need to do better to perform better in the next game?’”
Silcott-Duberry opens up on Pedersen conversation
Having been at Middlewood Road for a period of time prior to officially becoming a Wednesday player, Pedersen and his coaching staff have been able to closely analyse Silcott-Duberry to discover what he can bring to the table.
Having done enough to convince Pedersen that he is worthy of a place in his squad, he is determined to push for as many opportunities as possible.
“I have spoken to Henrik, and they have been good chats,” added the former Chelsea youngster. “He sees me as a player to make a good impact and potentially start a couple of games which is obviously a good feeling to have.
“I want to go against the odds a little bit and try and play as much as possible and try and push his hand a little bit to force me in there, because if you don’t push peoples hands a little bit, then you don’t really get yourself in the door.
“That is the main thing. It has been a very good conversation with him and all the stuff I feel positive about. They feel positive about me, I feel positive about being here and what’s going on, so I have no complaints at all.”
