'Thank you' - Henrik Pedersen's wife shares heartfelt message following Sheffield Wednesday exit

Henrik Pedersen’s time as Sheffield Wednesday manager came to an end at the weekend following back-to-back League One defeats.

Henrik Pedersen’s wife, Isabella, has said that she and her family will cherish their memories of their time at Sheffield Wednesday, acknowledging that the club played a part in shaping them.

Pedersen was sacked by the Owls on Sunday, less than 24 hours after overseeing a 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Club Doncaster Sports Village. The result marked a second away defeat in the space of five days.

Although Wednesday can expect to lose matches this season, given the unpredictable nature of football, it was the team’s performances that convinced the club’s hierarchy that a change was necessary. Wednesday are currently eighth in League One, two points shy of the final play-off place.

Guiding Wednesday through the most challenging period in their history last season, Pedersen led by example, earning immense respect from staff, players and supporters alike. He frequently had to answer questions that no manager should ever have to face.

Nevertheless, he tried to keep a sinking ship afloat, standing by Wednesday in their hour of need. The club had clearly become close to his heart and that of his family, with his wife and two sons regularly attending matches to support him and his players.

Following his departure, the Dane’s wife, Isabella, thanked everyone associated with the club for their love and support throughout her husband’s three-year association with the Owls.

Sharing an image of herself and her husband stood on the edge of the pitch at Hillsborough after the recent 5-0 win over AFC Wimbledon, Isabella posted on Instagram: “These smiles after a 5–0 win at Hillsborough, at our last home game, would become the last photo of Henrik and me at Hillsborough.

“Thank you to all the Owls for giving us so many incredible memories! To the fans, thank you for the amazing atmosphere that our boys enjoyed, not only from our usual seats at Hillsborough but also during unforgettable away games in the away end over the years.

“The boys and I would have loved to sing with you all for so much longer. Thank you to the players and their families for giving everything and investing so much of themselves. Thank you to the staff and their families for all the hours we shared around the pitch and in our home.

“We will never forget how this club, and everything that comes with it, has helped shape who we are today. The memories will stay with us forever. Thank you for the countless messages, calls and kind thoughts we’ve received since yesterday.

“We feel the support, and we share the love for everything we have build together. We’ll keep singing. Hi Ho!”
